PALM DESERT, CA (June 7, 2010).  The Coachella Valley Branch is pleased to announce that the Project of Merit nominations are now being accepted. The Coachella Valley Branch of the APWA Southern California Chapter seeks to recognize deserving public agencies for outstanding public works projects or programs completed between July 1, 2009 and June 30, 2010 (deadline for nominations). The Coachella Valley Branch Project of Merit was established to:  Recognize public agencies for outstanding capital improvement projects and public works programs. Share the good ideas displayed in these projects and programs with the remainder of the local members of the Coachella Valley Branch of APWA. LAKEWOOD (December 3, 2009) – The Southern California Chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA) will recognize 25 public works projects and three top public works leaders at its 10th Annual Awards Luncheon on Thursday, December 10, 2009, announced Chapter President Lisa A. Rapp, City of Lakewood, Public Works Director. Ceremonies will take place from 11:15 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. at The Centre at Sycamore Plaza, Lakewood Civic Center, 5000 Clark Avenue, Lakewood.  Registration and Awards Gallery opens at 11:15 a.m. Lunch will begin promptly at Noon. Orange County CA (December 3, 2009)  When the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) released the Report Card for America's Infrastructure, it raised public awareness about America's crumbling infrastructure. While the Report Cards and the attention they drew were effective in building public support for infrastructure renewal, civil engineers must continue to lead the discussion on viable solutions. ASCE Region 9 is taking that lead by presenting the Fourth Annual California Infrastructure Symposium to be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2010, in Sacramento.
