Special Olympics Southern California changes the lives of people with intellectual disabilities through sports training and competition.
Children and adults with intellectual disabilities who participate in Special Olympics develop improved physical fitness and motor skills, greater self-confidence and a more positive self-image.
More than 17,000 athletes in 11 counties participate in Southern California.

Ms. MahsaHematabadi, P.E. is a Construction Manager at the Port of Los Angeles Construction Division. She graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor's of Science in Civil Engineering in 2006.
She manages large infrastructure construction projects for marine facilities, including construction of concrete wharves and backlands, involving grading, paving, and electrical, storm drain, sewer, water, and Alternative Maritime Power (AMP) systems.
Mahsa conducts all aspects of the award process for public works construction. She represents the owner as a point of contact to contractors, field inspectors, various Port divisions, consultants, tenants, and regulatory agencies. Mahsa is responsible for supervising and directing consultants in administering construction contracts.
She also enforces contract requirements, mitigates unforeseen conditions and claims, and provides issue resolutions to the construction team. She manages unforeseen or design changes through negotiation and adjusts the contract accordingly.
